BAPTISM
EVERY NEW FOLLOWER OF JESUS NEEDS TO BE:
(1) BAPTIZED IN WATER FOR THE WASHING AWAY OF SINS AND BEING RAISED IN NEW LIFE AND
(2) BAPTIZED IN THE HOLY SPIRIT FOR POWER TO LIVE A BOLD AND PURIFIED LIFE.
“And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.” [Act 22:16 NIV]
For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. [Col 2:12 NLT]
John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one who is more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. [Luke 3:16 NIV]
Discipleship
EVERY BELIEVER ALSO NEEDS TO BE DISCIPLED AND TAUGHT THE WAYS OF GOD’S KINGDOM,
RENEWING OUR MINDS TO ALIGN WITH THE SCRIPTURES.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God–this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will. [Romans 12:1-2 NIV]
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. [2Timothy 3:16-17 NLT]
